Becoming a web developer has really changed my life…and for the better. Since then I’ve been able to slowly transition away from a job that paid my very little that I did not enjoy into running my own business from home that I absolutely love doing.
I’m now able to live the life I’ve always wanted to live. I pick and choose my hours that I work and I feel like I finally get the salary I deserve for the amount of work and effort I put in. Lastly I am truly thankful for the fact that I can spend more time with my loved ones…for this I truly feel blessed.
I’ve went from living paycheck to paycheck to now having more money then I even know what to do with. Heck I remember just a few years ago I had to make $20 last for a weeks worth of food. Those weren’t fun days but I’m thankful for them because they taught me a lot and eventually pushed me to work towards where I am today.
Don’t get me wrong, working from home as a freelance web developer is definitely hard work but it’s the kind of work I enjoy waking up to and doing everyday.
How I Got My First Gig As a Freelance Web Developer
It was only a few years ago, 3 to be exact when I got my first gig as a freelance web developer. It was from a website called freelancer.com and the gig was to install a piece of Google Adsense code onto a clients website.
I can’t even explain to you how scared and nervous I was when I first approached the project and placed a bid it. I wasn’t expecting to get chosen as the final freelancer to do the job seeing as I was completely new to the marketplace but I must have lucked out because I got chosen and a few short hours later I made my first $40 online.
Man, did that ever feel good… to finally make some money purely from my own effort and hard work. It wasn’t much but over the years my income has steadily risen.
Although I first started out doing freelance work and I did do it for awhile I actually make most of my income teaching web developing courses online. I spend most of my time teaching and working with over 38,000 of my students on Udemy. If you are interested you can check out my profile on Udemy by clicking here.
Now I know by now your probably feeling pretty inspired. You probably wish to be where I am today and I’m here to tell you that you definitely can do it! It will take hard work but I know you can succeed.
