Before we go any further in the course let’s take a few minutes to talk more about HTML.
HTML is the short form that basically stands for hypertext markup language. Don’t worry too much about what this means.
Hypertext is referring to any text that can be displayed on a screen and a hyperlink is a link that basically links two documents or webpages together.
HTML is primary used to create the structure of a webpage. Building a website structure is a lot like writing out a newspaper.
You have your titles, paragraphs, photos and headlines.
We use HTML to create the basic structure and add all of these elements to our webpages.
CSS is another language that we’ll be learning later on that will allow you to change the visual presentation of your website.
This can be a little bit tricky to grasp in the beginning, but after you start working with CSS more, you will understand HTML a lot better.
Last be not least it’s worth mentioning that HTML has evolved to design and build the websites that we have today and HTML has been around for a very long time.
All right, let’s move on…
See you in the next lesson.
